Some new little projects and news!

Well here I am! Firstly for those not on FB  (for those that are, skip the next two paragraphs)! :O) Last week I knew we would find out whether we’d move home in a few weeks or not. We had a not so nice buyer for our house who was like that from the word go ….who has dropped out of the sale, it was either him or us . Also, on the same day, the home we wanted, well we found it was too close from a flood plain, etc., so we have dropped out of that too. We are all happy and not sad or disappointed and our home is back on the market. But we are in the quiet time of selling, so some peace for a while! :o)

We always wanted a slow move and most definitely did not want to move until next year for many reasons, I am a firm believer that things happen for a good reason. So we are all greatly relieved we have more time to prepare and sort stuff out…it does mean though that we’ve had to all get our heads around Christmas..what a nightmare on that score! Lol

I have purchased two cabins! One will be a Winter one and the other Spring/Summer and will emulate my real work/craft space. :o)

The Winter one will be loosely based on a Swiss chalet style, but with some German and Scandinavian style thrown in!  but it will be a retreat for Father Christmas too! Bit of a mix! lol
This one is tiny, but lots of fun! The back slides out, which means one looses a lot of shelving etc., potential, so I am going to change it to a hinged back (if I can).  I'm going to sand it all down and take that shininess off and tone the colour down and make it less dolls house like, It's far too orange, although the photo's do make it worse than it actually is.

I'm going to add lots of snow too, which I hasten to add I have never attempted before, but you'll have to wait and see what else I do to it. :o)

I am going to use it as Father Christmas' retreat, after his weary day at work! Although it will be a mainly wintry themed project, the inside contents will be inspired by this fabulous children's short film and book. I have a rough idea what it will be filled with and with ole Mr Christmas inside!

I will work on the wintry one first and then move onto the other one, or I just might open the other kit to see what I want to do with that one....I have already bought some bits for a kit bash for it and some mini's for both projects. :o)

A big warm welcome to my new followers….I hope you don’t mind my ramblings and madness! :o))

  1. Love your cabins especially the winter one and I can't see Father Christmas in there with his feet up resting :) Sorry about your house move but at least you found it out was a near a flood plain before moving!

    1. Hi My Wee Life,

I think the winter one is my favourite too, but it maybe because we are heading into that season! It's so tiny though, I had bigger plans and ideas for it...so I've had to rethink and keep what I want most from my ideas. ;o)

It was meant to be, and things happen for a reason. I'd rather move in warmer weather, where I am moving to is a lot colder so a Spring/Summer move would be better. :o))

    1. Karin,

Soooo tiny huh!? I'm even having to measure single bed sizes! I will have the pot bellied stove instead...I will have space for that...just! lol :oP

I was going to expand it from the back...and do a kit bash, but my family love it as it is. :o)

    1. Hi Natalia,

New weekly plans more like! lol If you like sudden and rapid change, then you'd love my life! lol

I've chosen to do two small projects, because I can work on them this side of my move and when I move. Unlike the others who could get damaged if I continue to work on them more now. I really hate having to put them on hold, but it's best to. :o)

    1. Hi Marisa,

Something different perhaps, the contemporary one will be at least, not quite a mini-me craft room, but near enough. :o))

    1. Hi Sandra,

Have you got me sussed! lol I think you'd refer to it as displacement therapy...I'm on one huge roll! I can't do anything more constructive with regards to my move, it I go back to my large projects already started I know I will ruin them in more ways than one. Right now, I have the attention span of a gnat and the stress levels of someone about to be carted off by the men in white coats! lol

  7. These two 'small' projects will keep you busy while you house hunt and get well. Perfect sized for bed rest!!
I am moving my elderly parents next week, so I know how stressful this whole process is but it seems to be made worse by the awful way people behave.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with these, I have a Retreat tucked away too!!

    1. Hi Janice,

Well that's the idea, also I can do some bits on a lap tray which is ideal. I have started to sand that dire orange stain/varnish off..it looks better already just for that little bit of work.

I love the other retreat with the round window, I almost bought that..I think I will at some point as they are great little shelf fillers and elaborate room boxes in a sense.

We've had stressful and bad moves, but this one was bad from the beginning, we knew it would be trouble. Our Estate Agent said you do just some people like that...well we've never had anyone quite like that before. :o( For all his airs and graces, good manners and professionalism with moving house, mattered not one iota. I just feel sorry for the next seller he approaches! :o(

I do hope your parents move next week goes to plan and they have dry weather...that is always a huge bonus! :o))
