This is only a tiny update on the Winter cabin. :o))
I haven't had broadband access for 3 weeks (just my phone), and I'm only just back online with my laptop, so I still have to reply to all your wonderful comments!! :o)))
I have now fitted and hung the little curtains, I didn’t bother with a frilly pelmet in the end, it would have overwhelmed the tiny window, so I’ve left them as they are. I have a commission to be added to the cabin, once it arrives I can come back to it and work on it.
The Christmas tree I made is for another project, I will make more realistic outdoor trees for this project I think. :o)
I'm really pleased that I can see the curtains from the outside.
You can see them from the front too! lol
They took a while to fit and they weren't that easy to do. I didn't fit them in the usual way (no brackets etc.,), so it was a case of making sure they were straight and all the same level!
It needs door furnishings etc., and some work on the back of the cabin. I will leave these things till I move or when I can work in my Summer House. ;o)
I have bought the bedside light (the card is not staying! lol) and will fit that once I have the beside cabinet! ;o)
I am undecided whether to buy any of the furniture, I need one item though, the bed because that needs to be dressed and it will take time to do. :o) I really am not keen to buy mini’s at the moment (only OOAK’s or mini’s I think I might not see again) because of having to pack them up when I move house.
I have worked out when I move I will be between 26 and 28 miles from my nearest HobbyCraft, Wickes, The Range and B&Q, all places I buy supplies. So, I’m going to stock up on things I know I will need in the interim and not just from these suppliers. ;o)
So, I am devising a plan of what projects I will be working on before and just after I move and I plan on adding to the Winter Cabin. It is for Father Christmas, in the film he has a sleigh and a caravan…which he takes on holiday. There is also one other kit for a different project that I plan to buy, that I can work on whilst I am waiting for my real work space to be sorted out. ;o)
My late Spring/Summer cabin project...
Whilst I am waiting then for supplies to arrive for both cabins, I am now starting work on my other cabin. This one will mimic my real life work room and my cabin to be (when I move). I plan on decorating it as similar to the real one as I can, but I will change some things for ease! Lol :oP
I'm going to do a kit bash on it and change some things that I don't like, some subtle, some not so.
One change...you'll have to see how...
I plan to change and embellish these. They are not realistic enough for me.
My real cabin will be in the main Buttemilk with Aqua windows, doors etc. However, finding that exact colour in either a match pot or Acrylic was a challenge, so I will mix my own from the ones I have bought.

Hello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteThe cabin looks lovely. It's a shame you can't furnish it right away, but we'll all be here waiting to see you work your magic on both cabins.
Big hug,
Giac
Hi Giac,
DeleteThank you so much! I know, I am so looking forward to furnishing the winter cabin but if you could see how much stuff I have to move with you might see why I want to wait! lol :o) I do however know exactly what I want and where to commission the furniture from, so hopefully I may get it completed this year.
I will be adding some commissioned pieces to the project next weekend hopefully. ;o)
Hugs,
Michelle :o))
Que bonita se ve la cabaña de invierno con sus cortinas, me encanta el color!!
ReplyDeleteEspero ver el siguiente trabajo!!
SALUDOS!!
Hi Beatriz,
DeleteSo glad that you like the cabin and curtains. I always knew I wanted red and white gingham...I was seeking a certain look. ;o))
I will come back to the Winter cabin to add the commissioned pieces and dress and fill it at a later date. :o)

Le esta quedando muy bien, y las cortinas son muy graciosas y es estupendo que se vean desde el exterior.
ReplyDeleteHi Gemma,
DeleteI wasn't sure whether the curtain's would show from the outside, but I am thrilled that they did! ;o)

Love these Projects and the kit for Christmas tree is done pretty good ;-) To the next project: Will you put in all your miniature projects ,you are currently working on,to make it look realistic ? Lol,than you have much to do :-) Hugs,Jeannette xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Jeannette,
DeleteI thought the tree may have been much harder to do, although I did have to redo the top of the tree twice! lol :o)
Arh, it got it right! I will have mini dollshouses and shops (1/144th scale) as well other items that I have in my room in my late Spring/Summer cabin. :o)
I have 2 tiny kits, but not sure I will use these as they are destined for other projects, but I have my eye on the ones I that I would like for the cabin.
Hugs!

Hi Michelle! Two wonderful projects and I have to admit that Jeanette´s thought of having all your mini-projects inside this beach cabin sounds simply gorgeous to me :O)
ReplyDeleteMy internet is also making trouble so I want to thank you with some delay for sharing your experiences with making snow in your last post!
Greetings, Sandra
Hi Sandra,
DeleteGlad you like the little cabins and planned ideas. :o)) I've been looking at some of the 1/144th kits, I'm not sure how many I will get to fit inside the Spring/Summer cabin but I hope to find ones similar or ones I would have if they were 1/12th scale. ;o)
I've not been able to work on the cabins so far this weekend because our heating/hot water is not working. Far too cold to do mini work. :o( Maybe tomorrow before I go back to work on Tuesday.

Hello Antonia,
DeletePleased you like the little cabin and the snow. One of my commissions will be arriving soon for this little cabin, I can't wait to put them in place! :o))
Michelle :o)
I love this project! Pretty curtains too!
ReplyDeleteHello Nono,
DeleteThank you so much, glad you like the little curtains. :o))

That's a lovely tree and looks good sitting there and I like your ideas for the next cabin.
ReplyDeleteHi Irene,
DeleteI was pleased with how the tree turned out, it was the first one I have made and was tricky in places. I have started the kit bash work on the other cabin, hopefully I will be able to do some more on it over the weekend. :o)

The cabin has a very cosy and welcoming look. Nice!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Lil in Sweden.
Hello Lil,
DeleteAww thank you, I'm glad the cabin looks welcoming, its the kind of look I wanted...cosy and warm away from the cold snow outside! ;o)

Hi Michelle, I love your tree - would love to know how you made it, have you a previous post about it? It looks so full and 'real'! Looking forward to the future posts about these gorgeous cabins :)
ReplyDeleteHello Petite (sorry, I can't find your name),
DeleteGlad you like the little tree and cabins! ;o) No, I didn't show how I made it (I did take some photo's as I was making it), the reason being its not for this project, but for another.
However, I do plan on making a much larger/taller one and maybe 2 smaller ones that look more like pine trees. I just need to order the supplies! As I am moving house my mini hobby is kinda taking a bit of a back seat...but I will show the trees at some point! ;o))
