Update on my mini summer house.

Late edit...night time view with the lights on.

As a few of you asked about the progress of my mini summer house I thought I’d show you some photo’s of it so far. ;o)

I’ve taken these photo’s today. The inside is almost complete, it’s still a bit of a builders yard as I am having some extra plug points fitted, but the main middle ceiling light has now been fitted and is working! I have opted for 3 spot lights as this will enable to me have a light on me whether I am working and also lights on my dollshouses that will be out there.
Too bad my neighbours garage roof spoils the view! lol
As you can see I need some proper flooring! No, that leg isn't staying there either, it's only there as a temporary thing! lol
A view from the summer houses' doorway in Summer. :o)
Somewhere to sit to have a bit of sun and a drink! lol
Arh, a bit of a builders yard still! lol I plan to keep some smaller projects on the high shelving and also it's a good place to leave things till they dry off.
A few of my mini's and also DIY items for mini building, etc.
I'm having some the extra plug points fitted hence all the tools out and about! lol
I've got some PVC type cloth to cover the top of the shelves, this will make it easier to wipe away dirt and mess, although I will eventually get some glass sheets (with bevelled edges of course! lol) to work on. I have seen a mini oven in Argos to bake my polymer clay in, so that's next on my list of needs. I also have a mini fridge (thanks Kate for reminding me what a good idea one would be and I had one in the garage!), so that will be going up there too...I need something to keep me cool too! lolI have yet to buy the flooring, it will be something that can be easily swept and washed! I am also going to buy some nice storage boxes rather than have odds and sods for storage containers! I will move in before I have the blinds as at the moment I need the light to work. I am going to get a proper daylight lamp with a magnifier attached, there are 2 that I like, but I can’t decide which one I prefer and as they are £100.00 I want to make the right choice. :o))

Miss Sally World sent a link to her Mum's blog Susan Trodden. Her Mum has the most amazing projects not to mention her truly fantastic garden, allotment and conservatory, please take a look yourself! I gave the link to Jayne of Tallulah Belle and she loves it too! :o))

More posts soon on a swap, some new mini's and an update on Hogwarts.

I just envy you being able to be out side in the summer. Here it is too hot and humid to do that from May through Oct.

  19. Hi Brian,

It's getting there and I will be in it very soon.

lol I ca imagine you have tons of tools out and ready use! I hate power tools, I don't even like using my Dremel much and it would save me loads of effort and time if I used it more!

  20. Hi Irene,

So glad you approve of my little bolt hole! I think I will love the fact I will be able to enjoy the outside more, even though I'm not actually right in it! lol It will be a great place to work.

  21. Hi Debbie,

I'm so glad that the idea to have it converted was born! It will be great to just to be able to start on something, have room to move it somewhere to dry/set whilst I work on something else. I have the floor tiles now so moving in is edging closer!

We had ducks one time and they ate all our plants, so I have some idea what it's like to have one's garden under attack! lol

So glad you liked the link too.

  22. Hi Casey,

I'm really excited to be able to work out there and have somewhere to display my dolls houses. :o)

Once it's all done I will post some more photo's. Work is being done on it as we speak. I love my garden too, and it's quite low maintenance considering the amount of plants in it! lol

  23. Hi Kate,

Our garden is very new it's only just over 5 years old, but with lots of home made compost, chicken manure and attention it has come a long way in those years. It's also low maintenance as the majority ot the plants are perennials, or shrubs and a lot are evergreen too. Weeds stand little chance to grow too! lol So, it will be great to be able to see more of the garden whilst I am out there. I plan to have my mini fridge too, for those cool drinks on hot days!

I have seen 2 mini or micro ovens in Argos (both out of stock now! lol) and only £19.99 each BARGAIN! lol We use the normal oven at the moment for FIMO and we haven't killed anyone yet! lol I guess it would be okay to do toast in my micro oven, to go with my cup of tea!?! lol

Can you imagine me putting in the power points etc?! Not likely lol. We have the floor tiles so it won't be too long now. :o)

  24. Hi Julie K,

I like the colours for the mini house, very calm and cooling. Though the inside is a lot lighter than the photo's shows (the camera lies! lol).

As I work I don't get to spend a huge amount of time in the garden, so this is a great way to combine both loves. :o)

Susan's minis and garden is just fabulous, I'd love a mini garden etc., just like that!

  25. Hi Nina,

That's the general idea, to sit and enjoy! lol I just can't wait to have most of my mini craft stuff altogether and have space to work! I still have 3 tallish chest of drawers in the spare room.craft room as I need to work on Hogwarts (main house) in there and I have a large craft table in there. At last now I will have room on it to work too! lol

  28. Hi Lisa,

The garden was a labour of love to get to how it is now. When we moved her in 2003 there was only a lawn and a mini cherry tree! One of the previous owners ripped out a mature garden and trees. :o((

It will great to see more of it as I work in my other favourite hobby! :o)

  29. Hi Catherine,

It's cooler out than it is indoors at the moment. It's very hot here and sunny, but with a breeze. So being able to work outside will have so many benefits as it's too hot in my indoors craft/spare room and things will dry so much quicker in the mini house. :o))

I have taken some photo's of my Tutti Fruiti hydrangea, it's blooms are not fully ready to open yet, but when it is I will email some photo's of it.:o)

  30. Hi Nikki,

That's what I am looking forward to most...not being disturbed! lol I know that some peeps like others around them, but I can't stand people looking over my shoulder and keep asking me what I'm doing, moreso when I am doing something really fiddly and hard! lol

So,I will be happy as punch with my cup of tea and my little radio playing Classic FM as the only noise (with the birds singing of course). :o))

  37. OMG...get the kettle on... I am on my way.

The house is wonderful ....I love it. It is just such a dream. Forget the neighbors garage....it could be the roof of a charming old cottage for all we know.

I can't beleive how it is coming on...it is going to be so wonderful.

And you garden is stunning. I knew it would be but this is even better than I imagined.

I can't beleive it is so new as well. There is hope for me and my blank slate yet. Fancy a vacation to come help me out ;-)

I asked Mick last night if he knew where I might buy chicken poo lol

  38. Hi Michelle, don't think I can add anything to what everyone else has said. I love the colour choices and the setting is beautiful.
A little bit of english garden paradise.

  39. Hi Jayne,

I'm so glad you like it, in fact a lot of peeps do for some reason, even the neighbours! lol It's not big and spacious by any means, but large enough for ole me! lol

I wish that roof was a little old ladies roof! lol

The flooring is going down now, so I can move in over the weekend! My Witch's House will be moved down there in the week! :o)) I'm SOOO thrilled I can get in there and get everything sorted out. :o))

Yes, the garden is so new and I know it's hard to believe that so much can grow that quick. Some shrubs were a good size when we bought them and put them in, especially the Magnolia's near the summer house.

You can buy chicken manure in pellet form in the UK, but unsure about the US. It must be well rotted otherwise like any manure it WILL kill/damage just everything if it isn't! lol

I've never been to the West coast of the USA (only the East), so I might hold you to that..you have been warned! lol :oP

  41. Michelle, nothing, absolutely nothing can spoil my view of your charming little summerhouse cum craft room. Ok, yours is now my dream craftroom. When I strike the lottery, I will so want one to put in my garden. So funny, I misread your "proper flooring" as "paper flooring" and wondered if you may have carried your hobby a little too far..hahaha.

    Sighhhhhhh, soooooprettyyourcraftroom :)
